PROJECT PLANNING & NEXT STEPS
What details help with your repair estimate?
Call Mike to discuss the repair. Tell us your project location, approximate damage size, whether it is on a wall or ceiling, and current texture. If you have photos, ask Mike how to share them during the call.
Repair vs. Replacement: What Your Wall Needs
Localized damage such as doorknob strikes, anchor pulls, or small cutouts can be cleanly patched. We fit solid backing behind the opening, install new gypsum board, tape the joints, and feather multiple coats of joint compound smooth.
Larger damaged areas or weakened board may need replacement rather than a surface patch. Recurring cracks or a sagging ceiling can also point to a problem beyond the drywall; the underlying cause needs attention before the surface is repaired.
- Patching: Best for small holes, hairline cracks, and isolated utility cutouts.
- Replacement: An option for weakened board or damage extending beyond a local patch.
Openings Left by Plumbing, Electrical or Remodel Work
Tell Mike whether a cutout is still open, temporarily covered or previously patched. Include nearby corners, fixtures and adjoining surfaces. For cabinet or fixture removal, explain which areas will remain visible after the room is finished.
Confirm with the relevant trade that access is no longer needed and any required inspections are complete before closure. For several repairs, a room-by-room list helps define the different surfaces and finishes without requiring a technical survey.
Water-Damage Drywall: Addressing the Source First
If damage stems from plumbing or roof leaks, the leak must be fixed and framing dried before installing new drywall. Hanging board over damp wood traps moisture and ruins the repair.
I Do Drywall handles sheetrock replacement and finishing; we do not provide mold diagnosis or environmental remediation. Once the underlying problem has been addressed, Mike can discuss replacing the affected drywall and finishing the surrounding surface.
Finishing, Texture Matching, and Paint Expectations
We feather joint compound wide and sand edges flush so the patch blends into the wall. For textured surfaces like orange peel or knockdown, we match the surrounding pattern. Paint sheen and lighting also affect how the repaired area looks.
The agreed repair can include joint finishing and a smooth or textured surface. Discuss priming and painting with Mike when planning the job so the estimate clearly covers the finish you want.
Questions about drywall repair
Do you take on small repairs, or only big projects?
We handle repairs large and small. Whether fixing a single doorknob hole or repairing multiple rooms during a renovation, small repairs are welcome. Call Mike directly at (386) 868-7726.
Can you match our existing texture?
Texture matching is part of our drywall work, including knockdown and orange peel finishes. Mike can assess the existing pattern and discuss blending the repair, along with the effect of paint sheen and lighting.
Is painting included with the repair?
Painting is not automatically included with every drywall repair. Tell Mike whether you want drywall finishing only or need to discuss priming and painting as part of the agreed scope.
What areas do you serve for drywall repair?
We serve Daytona Beach, Ormond Beach, Port Orange, New Smyrna Beach, DeLand, Deltona and Orange City, and the surrounding area. Tell Mike the property location and work needed when you call.
