Separate a small defect from a larger replacement

A single puncture does not automatically mean replacing a wall. Equally, a wider area of damaged material may need more than a surface patch. Tell Mike how much is affected, where it is and whether the problem has changed over time.

Mention previous repairs and any known source of damage. If a moisture or movement problem is unresolved, that needs attention before deciding how to restore the drywall surface.

Preserve the finish where it makes sense

When most of a wall is staying, discuss the existing texture before choosing the repair approach. The aim is to make the repaired section work with the surrounding surface, taking its pattern, paint and lighting into account.

If you are already planning a different finish for the room, say so at the estimate stage. Matching a small area and preparing a broader surface for a new look are different scopes; Mike can discuss which work your plan calls for.

Include the rest of the renovation

Removing cabinets, moving fixtures or opening a wall can leave several small drywall tasks around a room. Include those areas in the conversation rather than describing only the most obvious damage.

We also handle full-room hanging, taping and finishing. For new board or remodel replacement, explain what is ready for drywall and what other trades still need to complete.
